Every Texas Toy Lab toy is recommended for ages 3 and up. No Texas Toy Lab product is suitable for children under 3 years, for babies, or for toddlers. This includes keychains, minis, capsules and party-pack creatures.

One exception: the Dragon Snap Kit (coming, ages 6+) will be recommended for ages 6 and up, because it has small parts you assemble.

What 3D printed toys are, honestly

• Our toys are built from many thin layers of melted plastic (PLA and PETG). Layer-built plastic is strong for play, but with rough treatment, drops onto hard floors, or bending past its limits, pieces can crack or break off along the layers. A broken-off piece is a choking hazard.
• Flexi toys are made of many small linked segments. The segments are captive by design, but a damaged toy can release them. Check toys before each play session and take any cracked, chipped or loose toy away from children immediately.
• If a toy breaks, email us a photo. We replace toys that fail in normal play.

Not for mouths, food, or pets

• Toys are not food-contact safe, and no 3D printed toy ever is, whatever plastic it is printed from. Never use them as cups, plates, cake toppers touching food, cookie cutters, straws, or teething items. The layer grooves in 3D printed plastic trap moisture and bacteria and cannot be cleaned to food-safety standards.
• Standard 3D printing filaments, including ours, are industrial materials that are not certified for food contact or prolonged mouth contact. That is why the rule is simple: toys are for hands, not mouths.
• Not for chewing or mouthing, by children or by pets. These are not pet toys.
• Clean with a cloth dampened with mild soapy water. No dishwasher, no boiling, no microwave.

Play safe

• Keep toys away from heat, flames, ovens, radiators, and hot cars; printed plastic softens and changes shape starting around 50°C / 122°F.
• Keychains are for backpacks and bags. Never hang any toy or cord around a child's neck.
• These are not bath, pool, protective, or load-bearing items, and not nightlights: glow toys charge under lamp light and contain no batteries.
• None of our toys contain magnets, button batteries, or electronics of any kind.
• Young children should play with adult supervision.

Rules we follow

Children's products sold in the United States are covered by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) and the federal toy safety standard ASTM F963. We design and label our toys to those rules: age grading of 3+, the small-parts choking warning on our listings and packaging, and our name and contact details on the packaging so any toy can be traced back to us. Our filaments are standard, unfilled PLA and PETG from major manufacturers. Questions about any product's safety? Email joseph@texastoylab.com and a grown-up from the Lab will answer.

CPSC registration and certificates

Texas Toy Lab is a registered CPSC Small Batch Manufacturer. Children's Product Certificate work is underway; none is finished yet.

Materials and compliance documents

Every toy is printed from Bambu Lab brand filament, unfilled PLA or PETG, bought directly from the manufacturer. Below are the manufacturer's own safety and technical documents for each material we stock, hosted here so you can read exactly what your child's toy is made of. Copies are as published by Bambu Lab; originals live at bambulab.com.

The safety data sheets are prepared by the EMTEK testing laboratory for Bambu Lab and cover material composition and handling. Where a family shares its base material with another (the silk and galaxy lines are PLA), the PLA safety data applies. Bambu Lab also publishes RoHS and REACH declarations for its filaments; email us for a copy of any document we have not posted and we will get it from the manufacturer.

If something goes wrong

If any of our products is involved in an incident or injury, or you believe one is unsafe, email joseph@texastoylab.com right away; a parent reads and answers these personally. You can also report product safety incidents to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission at SaferProducts.gov. We have had no recalls; if we ever recall a product we will contact known buyers directly and post a notice on this page.

Custom parts and Imaginator prints

Custom printed parts are hobby items, not toys for young children unless we agree that in writing. Custom Imaginator prints follow the same 3+ age grading and warnings as our standard toys. Texas Toy Lab is a registered CPSC Small Batch Manufacturer. Children's Product Certificate work is underway; none is finished yet. Designing an Imaginator toy is free, and a grown-up at the Lab checks the exact revision before anything prints. Nothing we print is certified for safety-critical, structural, medical, electrical, or food-contact use.
